Elburn,
IL. —Monitor Technologies announces their
second generation DustAlarm“ broken bag detector, which
uses reliable triboelectric technology to monitor dust emissions
from bag houses and industrial dust collection systems. The
DustAlarm broken bag detector is an economical solution for
the detection of leaks and filter failures. The DustAlarm
is compatible with a wide range of powders and bulk solids
and can meet the needs of virtually any industry.
An
electric signal is generated when dust particles collide with
the stainless steel probe of the DustAlarm broken bag detector.
The electronics provides an alarm output to indicate changes
in filter condition. The DustAlarm broken bag detector protects
blowers from damage by warning you when it is time to replace
filters. The electronics include sensitivity, alarm level and
time delay adjustments to prevent generation of false signals
from normal operations.
A
rugged NEMA 4 housing protects the DustAlarm broken bag detector
electronics. Easy access is provided for all adjustments, and
plug-in terminal blocks and cable glands simplify commissioning.
A multi-colored LED is part of the electronics. It shortens
set-up time, and provides local indication of an alarm condition.
The DustAlarm broken bag detector is available with either
integral or remote electronics. The remote electronics version
is used for high temperature / vibration applications.
The
DustAlarm broken bag detector can save you money by eliminating
unscheduled down time for filter bag replacement. DustAlarm
helps you comply with the Clean Air Act and other federal regulations
by allowing dust to be reclaimed prior to being released to
the environment.
Elburn,
IL. —Monitor Technologies announces the introduction
of their second generation TrueCap® Model MK-2 RF capacitance
point level sensor. Based upon nearly 20 years of experience
in the design and application of RF capacitance technology,
the second generation MK-2 point level sensor uses digital
microcontroller technology and surface mount electronics
to provide the highest degree of performance and reliability
for dry/wet solids, liquids, viscous liquids and slurries.
The
latest TrueCap Model MK-2 provides state-of-the-art features,
including:
• A universal power supply compatible with 48-240 VAC/24-48 VDC
• An external LED for local status indication
• Automatic compensation for changes in product capacitance with varying
temperature, for unmatched stability
• Simple push button calibration
• Build-up immunity for reliable performance with “sticky” solids,
liquids and slurries
• Remote electronics option for high temperature / vibration applications
The
TrueCap Model MK-2 provides adjustable sensitivity and can
be set up to detect differences in capacitance as small as
0.5 picofarads. The MK-2 can be used on vessels containing
multiple products by calibrating the sensor for the material
with the lowest dielectric constant.
TrueCap
MK-2 point level sensors are offered with a wide assortment
of probe types and options. Over 100 different product configurations,
including units for general purpose and hazardous locations,
provide unequaled versatility. This minimizes your need to
invest in multiple technologies to solve the various level
measurement applications at your facility.
Monitor’s
MK-2 is a “plug-in-place” instrument. Installation
is simple, and requires no special tools or training. Push
button calibration and sensitivity allows for quick start-up.
A push button self test feature allows easy verification of
sensor operation and calibration.
The
TrueCap Model MK-2 is virtually maintenance free, and will
operate for years without attention. TrueCap level sensors
carry Monitor’s two-year warranty and are backed by our
exclusive SecureCare customer service program.

or any of Monitor’s full line of level, flow, particle
emission or aeration products, contact: Emily Jones at 1-800-601-5953.
The TrueCap® Model MK-2
RF Capacitance point level probe is designed to provide a superior
and stable sensitivity threshold making it suitable for a variety
of powder / bulk solids and some liquid or slurry applications.
Advanced features of the Model MK-2 include: > Automatic immunity to material build-up on
the probe by its driven shield design > Push-button calibration > Enhanced temperature compensation > Maximized reliability via smart sensing algorithms
like “self-validating” fail-safe protection > Visible status LED on ordinary location units > Versatility through a variety of configuration
options including: hazardous location version, split architecture
design, quick-connect process connection, stub probe, cable extensions,
solid extensions, Nylon® probes, Ryton® - equiv. probes,
etc.
A practical application for the TrueCap would be to use this level sensor where
a residual material build-up on a different sensor would cause a false material
level indication.
Principle of Operation for the TrueCap RF Capacitance Level
Probe:
The vessel wall and the active probe element establish an impedance reference
between each other when exposed to air which has a dielectric constant of 1.
When materials with a dielectric constant greater than 1 are in close proximity
to the probe, the impedance of the sensing field between the sensor and the vessel
wall will change. Once the amount of change exceeds a threshold that was electronically
determined during the calibration process, an output relay will either be energized
or de-energized depending upon the position of the fail-safe selector on the
probe’s electronic circuit board. A change of as little as .5 pico-farad
is all that is necessary for the probe to sense the presence of material.
